The Faith Academy Knights football squad hit the road to face off with the Northside Lions in Conroe last Friday night in non-district action but fell short, 39-22.
Freshman quarterback Noah Figueroa led the Faith Academy offense on 13-of-22 passing for 164 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers although he recorded his first interception as well. Through two games, he’s thrown seven touchdowns to the one interception.
Maury Cano, Nathan Figueroa and Josh Poorman registered the receiving touchdowns while Kaleb Shepherd led the ground attack, totaling 112 yards on 10 carries in addition to the longest play of the game with a 31-yard catch out of the backfield.
Defensively for the Knights, Landon Snyder, Cano and Poorman were credited with big contributions from head coach Trey Carter. He also said Shepherd was the player of the week for his efforts running the ball and stepping up in the wake of a teammate’s injury.
This Friday, Faith Academy will play in its district-opening contest against the Bryan St. Joseph Eagles on the road with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
