Last week served as the district debut for Faith Academy volleyball and the Lady Knights picked right back up from where they left off last year allowing only 10 total points
Preceding that match was a contest with Lutheran North where 13 kills from senior Marissa Przyborski led the way for visiting Faith Academy. Classmates Isabella Shoenborn (8 kills, 3 service aces) and Regan Woodley (6 kills, 3 aces) were not far behind as well as sophomore Adelaide Kuespert who registered seven kills.
Head coach Josh McClain was pleased with his team’s effort despite a weird week with Labor Day mixed in.
“We played a little sluggish at Lutheran North coming off a holiday but finished the match,” he said. “A couple of our freshman played in the third game and di well so that is always good to see.”
That match led the Lady Knights into the district-opening contest with Robert Beren Academy where visiting Faith Academy won in straight sets, 25-4, 25-4, and 25-2.
“Beren is rebuilding their team this year so our second group came in for games two and three,” McClain said. “They did a good job closing out the match.”
Moving ahead, the Lady Knights will play thrice this week with two district matchups earlier in the week before a trip to Weimar on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. non-district tilt closes things out.
