Knight runners hit the course

The Faith Academy cross country team got back to racing and opened the regular season by competing at The Woodlands Christian Meet last Saturday.

16 teams and 82 runners fought for the top spot in the male varsity race around the 3.2-mile course that turned to mud in some spots due to a recent rainstorm. Senior Eric Carlin and sophomore Beck Briggs were the Knights’ representatives in the race and finished consecutively in 40th and 41st, respectively, with times of 20:32 and 20:34. The race was Briggs’ cross country debut.

In the middle school female race, Faith Academy seventh-grader Savannah Goebel medaled with a ninth-place finish in 15:29 on the 2-mile course to start her third year of cross country.

“The kids were excited to be back out on the trails and they did a great job in their first meet,” head coach Ann Howarth said.
