Karen Sue Schaare left this life and entered into the loving arms of her Savior on March 3, 2016, at the age of 72. Karen passed away at Grace Care Center in Katy, Texas after a very brief illness.

Karen was born to Bernetha (Beckman) and Leroy Schaare, on June 26, 1943, in Sealy. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sealy. For years, Karen was the church organist at Trinity. Karen graduated from Sealy High School in 1961. She then completed nursing school at Polly Ryan School of Nursing in Richmond. Her first employment as a nurse was at Texas Institute for Research and Rehabilitation in Houston. Following that, she worked at Memorial City General Hospital, where she began working in the Pediatric field. After leaving Memorial City General, she worked for Dr. Cade Nelms, in Katy, for many years. She also worked at Christus Saint Catherine Hospital in Katy. Karen retired in 2007.

After retirement, Karen became actively involved in many facets of her church, including the choir, Circle of Friends, assisting with Ladies Aid activities and with Trinity Preschool fundraisers. She also helped any of her family members, whenever there was a need. She was always lending a helping hand and offering words of guidance.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Bernetha and Leroy Schaare, brother, Leroy Schaare, Jr. and his wife, Doris Schaare, and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Szymanski. She is survived by sisters, Mary Lou Mieth and husband, Ervin, and Ruth Szymanski. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

Services for Karen will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sealy. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers are Justin Szymanski, Josh Mieth, Russell Schaare, Dwayne Furey, Kris Kuehl and Mark Romano.

Memorials in Karen’s memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the charity of your choice.
