Justus Walter Lee "Stonewall" Hill of Cat Spring, Texas, passed away on Sept. 4, 2018 at the age of ninety years old at Brazos Valley Hospice.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at Woodlawn Cemetery & Funeral Home, 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, TX 77055, Reverend William Denham of Houston officiating.
Stonewall Hill was born April 18, 1928 to Justus Walter Hill and Beatrice Ransom Hill in Texas. He attended Sam Houston State Teachers College. He ranched and farmed, and was also an accomplished artist and violinist. He won prizes for the horses he bred and trained, and for his western artwork. He was known for his rapport with animals, even rehabilitating wildlife, and his skill with gentling cats was legendary. One of the family's favorite memories is of him moving a litter of baby rabbits from a tractor's path in his cowboy hat.
He is survived by his sister, Patsy Hill Goodrich, his niece Bonnie Goodrich and her husband Dan Black, and his niece Barbara Goodrich and her husband Bill Simpson.
