Funeral Services for Joe O. Mazac, 86, of Sealy, Texas were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 10471 Grotto Road, Frydek, Texas, with Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Frydek.
Pallbearers: Ed Wilder, Butch Baumann, Steven Noack, Franklin Zaruba, Kenny Kutra and Albert Sodolak.
Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Joseph Otto Mazac was born on Jan. 14, 1931, in Rosenberg, Texas, to parents Joseph J. Mazac and Louise Kaspar Mazac. He was raised in Frydek and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Frydek. Joe died on Feb. 25, 2017, in Katy, Texas.
Joe married Miss Betty Jo Vacek in East Bernard on July 15, 1956, and they made their home in Sealy, Texas, at the time of his death. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Joe was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frydek, Sealy Lions Club and was a charter member and past officer, member of Sealy American Legion, Knights of Columbus in Frydek and past director of the Austin County Fair board. He worked for Standard Oil Company in Houston, Taylor Auto Supply in Houston, and was owner and operator of City Air Conditioning and Mazac Muffler Shop and Mazac Golf Carts in Sealy.
Survivors include his wife Betty Jo Mazac in Sealy; sons, Tom Mazac and Brian Mazac; sisters, Mary Mewis of Bellville, Lillie Bohny and husband Gene of Houston, and Bennie Sepulvado of Bleiblerville; brother, Leroy Mazac of Houston; grandchildren, Ashley and husband John Buford, and Taylor Mazac; and great grandchild Mia Buford. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Louise Mazac; son, Joey Mazac; brothers, Jerry and Willie Mazac and sister, Mildred Dodd. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or charity of choice.
