Joanne Sorich of Bellville, Texas, passed away at home on Oct. 22, 2019.
A very beautiful baby girl was born on June 25, 1955, to her late parents; Phillip and Mary Puchek Banner in Flint, Mich. They named her Joanne but call her Jo. She grew up in Dyer, Ind., and graduated from Lake Central High School in Saint John, Ind.
Jo met and married Peter Sorich in 1994 in Oak Forrest, Ill. She was blessed with one stepdaughter, Susan Sorich. They soon moved to Texas where they enjoyed the warm weather.
Jo was very active in the community. She joined the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy and was a member of the Austin County Civic Choral. She was also a substitute teacher with the Brenham Independent School District in kindergarten and the first grade for seven years. After leaving the Brenham school district, Jo began working as a librarian at Blinn College in Brenham. She was employed at Blinn College for 10 years.
Some of Jo’s hobbies consist of gardening, reading, riding her horse Spider, and traveling. But her favorite was photography. She loved taking pictures of animals, people, nature and most of all sunsets. Jo won grand champion in photography at the Austin County Fair in Bellville.
Joanne is preceded in death by her parents; Phillip and Mary Puchek Banner.
She leaves to mourn her memories, her loving husband, Pete Sorich; stepdaughter Susan Sorich and many friends.
A memorial service for Joanne will be set at a later date.
