Jimmie Ferrell “Jim” Walters


Jimmie Ferrell “Jim” Walters began and ended his 75-year journey through life in Sealy,. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at home with his wife by his side. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Jimmie was born Dec. 27, 1942, in Sealy to Joe Ferrell and Margie Walters. He graduated from Sealy High School in 1961. He married the love of his life, Kathryn Jean “Kathy” Woodley on Jan. 26, 1964 and they were blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, andfour great-grandchildren.

Jimmie attended Texas A&M University briefly before deciding to go into the dairy business full time. He was always a dairy man at heart. He started his business at sixteen years old with the help of his Dad. He expanded from a small door to door service, to a full service dairy, and eventually became an Oak Farms distributor before retiring in 2012. Jimmie also served proudly as the mayor of the City of Sealy from 1976-1986.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathy Walters; children Val Walters, Brenda Krchnak and husband Randall, Don Walters and wife Patricia; grandchildren Mary Kate Walters, Winston Walters, Valerie Richter and husband Barrett, Lacey Krchnak, Brittney Whitehead and husband Tayler, Cassidy Krchnak, Jonathan Walters, and Cole Walters; great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Ansley, and Emersyn Richter and Axel Krchnak; sister Tommye Jo Schumann; brother-in-law Dr. James B. Woodley; and several nieces and nephews.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents Joe Ferrell and Margie Walters, Kathy’s parents Winston and Mary Cross Woodley, brother-in-law Robert Schumann, and sister-in-law Kay Woodley.

A visitation was held at the Knesek Brothers Highway 36 Funeral Chapel in Sealy on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jimmie's name to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E. Blue Bell Rd., Brenham, TX 77833.
