Jeanne Marie Beauvais Marten

Jeanne Marie Beauvais Marten, age 90, passed away on Aug. 18, 2017 in Katy.

Jeanne was born on January 23, 1927, in Chicago, to Louis Joseph Beauvais and Florence Grace Foley Beauvais.  On Oct. 19, 1946, Jeanne married Franklin Anthony Marten in Wilmette, Ill. Jeanne and Frank were longtime residents of Royal Oak, Mich., where they raised their family.  Her beloved Frank passed away on August 20, 2004. In November, 2006, Jeanne moved to Katy, Texas, where she became a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

Jeanne was a devoted wife and mom and held strong convictions for caring for her family 365 days a year. She held the greatest respect for her husband and her father and would seriously never allow anyone to speak disparagingly toward either of these men. This was something Frank took casually as humorous that he could never speak an ill word about his father-in-law, but it was also a quality he adored in Jeanne.

Jeanne was an excellent cook. Her apple crisps were a delightful favorite.  She will always be remembered for celebrating each family member’s birthday by taking their requests and preparing their favorite meal.

Jeanne had a passion for working crossword puzzles and word-seek puzzles, something she did no less in her favorite black and red pens. She was an avid and loyal fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and never wanted to miss her shows.

She is survived by her eleven children, Jeannette Baker, Yvonne and David Ebstein, Madeleine Rothwell, Stephen & Annie Marten, Jeff Sr. and Barb Marten, Michael Marten, Suzanne and W. Hatch, Patrice and Charles Reid, Jr., Robert Marten, Jacqueline King, and Henry Marten II. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and by her sister, Louise Fahey.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, in Katy, with Deacon Paul Foltyn officiating.
