On Dec. 15, 2015, James Pomikal “Po” went to be with our heavenly father after a long and full life here with us. James was born Dec. 5, 1934, to John and Hedwig Pomikal in Bellville, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Rudolph Pomikal, Sylvester Pomikal, Ben Pomikal, and sister Adela Stein.
James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gladys Pomikal, his three daughters, Annette Strayer and husband Tim, Donna Murphy and husband Patrick, Betsy Harlan, son Wesley Pomikal and wife Melanie. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, all of whom he loved and adored - Brandon Strayer, Matt Strayer, Braden Murphy, Bryson Murphy, Jacob Haverlah, Chad Harlan, Molly Harlan, Amber Pomikal, and Jordan Pomikal. He is further survived by his loving pets who will also miss him dearly.
Some of his greatest enjoyments in life were spending time with his children and grandchildren, deer hunting, raising cattle, sharing what he grew in his garden, watching old westerns and wrestling, and rooting for the Houston Texans. He never met a stranger and always had time for a friendly visit.
While he will be so greatly missed, we are comforted by the knowledge that he is now in the presence of our Lord and his family who went before him.
