James “Jim” Oscar Brooks, 74, went to be with the Lord on June 18. He was born October 29, 1941, in Ingram, Kentucky, as one of eight children to Chester and Bettie Brooks. He married Becky Johnson, the love of his life, in 1962.
Jim served in the U.S. Army before beginning his longtime career at Gulf Oil/Chevron, retiring at age 50 to enjoy many years of making memories with Becky. He loved being outdoors, sitting on his back porch, or walking the neighborhood and visiting with neighbors. Jim and Becky enjoyed traveling to Colorado in the summer where he loved to fish and ride four-wheelers in the mountains with their Colorado family of friends. They spent time each winter in the Texas Valley bird-watching, riding bikes, and spending time with dear friends.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Becky; son James Oscar Brooks, Jr and grandchildren
Rachael and Eve Brooks, Sara Brooks Yentzen and husband Jake, and great-grandchildren Brooks and Taylor Yentzen; and daughter Suzy Brooks Poll, husband Philip, and grandchildren Erica and Nathan Poll.
Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His bright smile will forever live in our memories.
