Funeral services for Irene L. Gavranovic, 90, of Galveston were held 2 P.M. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy with Rev. Eric Pitre celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Visitation and parish rosary were held also on Tuesday at the church.
Irene Louise Novosad was born on May 14, 1926 in Frydek to parents Josef and Louise Kutra Novosad. She was raised in Sealy, graduating from Sealy High School in 1943. Irene married Paul A. Gavranovic on February 24, 1946 in Sealy and they moved to Galveston that same year. She worked for American National Insurance Co. for 50 years and also was an Avon representative for 30 years achieving awards in the President’s and McConnell Club’s. She was a member of the former St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galveston (now Holy Family) since she moved to Galveston. Irene was also a member of the ABWA, the Czech Heritage Choir, and the Czech Heritage Society. She died August 25, 2016 in Cypress.
Survivors include sons, Paul M. Gavranovic and wife Carol of Cypress and Thomas J. Gavranovic of Spring, brother, Joe Novosad and wife Helen of Burnet, grandchildren, Grant Gavranovic and wife suzie, Amy Gavranovic, Kenneth Gavranovic and wife Heather, Robert Bars and wife Angela and Debra Lynch and husband Fritz, eight great-grandchildren, godsons, Michael and Curtis Parr, and numerous nephews, cousins and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josef and Louise Novosad, husband, Paul A. Gavranovic, daughter, Beverly Gavranovic, and grandson, Steven Edward Gavranovic.
