On Monday, Dec. 21, at 6:55 p.m., an accident took place off Interstate 10 approximately 11 miles east of Sealy in Colorado County, claiming the life of a 9-year-old girl.

Department of Public Safety officers have faulted driver negligence for the cause of the accident.

Two vehicles were parked on the highway shoulder with emergency triangles displayed. Randle Broussard, 35, of Broussard, La., heading eastbound on Interstate 10 in a 2014 Chevrolet 2500 with 9-year-old Allison Broussard, struck the left rear bumper of a Volvo 660 driven by Joshua Taylor and Jeremy Jackson, both residents of South Carolina.
