Gerald "Snook" Scranton, 68, died in his home on July 4, 2017, of natural causes.
Scranton was born Oct. 24, 1948 in Sealy. He was preceded in death by his mother Norris Scranton (Anderson). He is survived by his father, Joe Scranton; brother, Larry Scranton; sister, Octavia Scranton (Cooper); sons, W. Corey Scranton and Gerard Scranton. He also has five awesome grandchildren: Brandon Cadena, Alexis Scranton, Tessa Lowe, Adrian Scranton and Rachel Emily Scranton.
Scranton served in the U.S. Navy IC2/ E-5 from March 1969 to June 1971.
Gerald Scranton was one of a kind, a true east side legend, the life of any and everyone’s party. He never met a stranger and lived by his own rules. One thing is for sure, he loved his grandchildren and cherished spending time with them.
He was gifted by God with numerous talents and abilities including carpentry, reading, writing and playing music to name a few.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at Anderson Street Church of Christ, 308 Live Oak, Sealy. Repast will be held afterward in the cafeteria.
