Gamma Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International holds March meeting


The Gamma Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met Saturday, March 3, 2018 in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg, with 42 members present and one guest. The pledges and meditation were led by Linda Pinkerton. The collect was led by Carol Brinkman and Mission Statement was led by Sandy Johnson. Prayer was said by Lynda York. Lou Pruett thanked the Somerville members for hosting the meeting and a delicious brunch.

President Lou Pruett presided over the business meeting. Minutes from the February 2018 regular meeting were approved and filed by Kathy Noska, recording secretary. Linda Pinkerton gave the treasurer’s report to be filed for audit. Several notes and thank-you cards of correspondence were read by Janet Allphin, corresponding secretary. Lou Pruett gave the legislative report; she felt early voting went very well and to keep it up.

First Vice-President Jeanell Dallmeyer announced that new members will be initiated at the April meeting and members will celebrate the birthdays of DKG and Gamma Omega.

Achievement Committee Chair Melanie Crowhurst submitted on-line forms for the Chapter Achievement Award. The winner will be announced at the April meeting.

Membership Committee Chair Anna Breddin presented names of two prospective members who were voted on and will be accepted into membership at the next meeting.

Mary Keienburg informed members next month will be last time for our International Market and that we raised more than $500. Any items left over will be donated to Focusing Families. Carole Fry said she appreciated all the support, donations and help this year with Focusing Families.

Lou Pruett introduced guest Chris Morrison from TSO Communication/Publicity Committee and a Beta Beta member. She thanked everyone for having her at the March meeting. She has been reading the DKG newsletter and was excited to visit the local chapter. Lou Pruett thanked her for being there and presented her with a gift.

The program was led by Lynda York reading a story about parades. Members at each table shared their stories about the hat they wore. It was a time of sharing favorite memories about family, also about Easter. Members enjoyed seeing all the hats and learning about the meanings behind them. The group finished with everyone singing the Easter Parade song.

Members were reminded about the TSO convention June 14-16 in Waco and encouraged attendance for the International meeting in July in Austin.

Janet Allphin spotlighted Eunice Sutton, Sandy Johnson and Carobeth Bockhorn as members to get to know.

Door prizes were donated Sandy Johnson. Winner for perfect attendance was Janyce Beyer and Heather Smith won the regular door prize.

The next meeting will be April 14, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg with the Brenham members serving as hostesses. Following adjournment, the members sang the Delta Kappa Gamma song.
