The Austin County Firefighters Association recently held its annual fire training school on Feb. 7-9 in Bellville.
The training was conducted by guest instructors and subject matter experts from as far away as Illinois and facilitated by TEEX for fire training certification credit. This year’s school focused on fire tactics with specialized training in thermal imaging, fire science, and the art of reading smoke. It was then put into practice using the MaxFireBox phase 1 and 2, and the SCBA training tower. Special thanks extended to the Bellville VFD for the facilities and, the H.B.2604, Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Training Program grants.
The next school is scheduled for Feb. 12-14, 2021.
