Faith volleyball sweeps last week

The Lady Knights of Faith Academy Bellville had a strong week last week, picking up wins over the Allen Academy Lady Rams and the Brazos Christian Lady Eagles.

Faith enters this week of competition with a 15-5-1 record and head coach Joshua McClain knows these preseason matches will help the team down the road.

"We played slow in spots but overall, a good match for our team," McClain said following the win over Allen Academy. "These matches let us know where we need to put in the work the most and the girls are well aware we have another level to get to."

The Lady Knights knocked off the Lady Rams in straight sets, 25-13, 25-14, 25-21, and were led by senior Isabella Schoenborn's 12 kills and 14 digs as well as an 8-kill, 15-dig performance from classmate Marissa Przyborski. Regan Woodley added six kills and 18 digs herself while senior Gabby Yates totaled four service aces and 31 assists for the match.

The contest with the Lady Eagles of Brazos Christian went down the wire, ultimately needing all five sets to determine a winner.

Faith grabbed the first set, 25-20, but dropped the next two by 25-18 and 25-22 scores before bouncing back and taking the final two sets, 25-19 and 15-9 to secure the victory.

"The week started with some good play at Allen and ended with gutting one out at home against Brazos Christian in 5," McClain said. "We have to learn from the lessons we had this week so we continue to grow."
