Faith Academy began their softball season against the Mumford Mustangs. The Lady Knights started the scoring early and kept it going the whole game. At the same time, the pitching was great. In five innings, Destiny Interiano, Megan Flores, and Jasmyn Trejo combined for a two hitter and struck out eight.
Kaetee Hunt drove in five runs on three hits to lead Lady Knights past Mumford 19-1 on Feb. 16. Hunt drove in runs with a three-run home run in the fourth and a double in the fifth.
The Lady Knights captured the lead in the first inning when Kylea Bain drove in the second run on a double. Faith Academy then scored six in the third inning and three in the fourth inning.
The Lady Knights followed that up by scoring eight runs in the fifth inning. They scored on a single by Flores, a stolen base by Reagan Majewski, a double by Hunt, a walk by Interiano, a single by Regan Woodley, a walk by Katelynn Burasco, and a single by Marissa Przyborski.
The Lady Knights collected 14 hits. Hunt, Flores, Trejo, Przyborski, and Majewski each collected multiple hits for Lady Knights.
“It was a good team victory. The bats came alive and we had some good base running. We still have things we need to clean up and plays we can execute better. We have a good group of girls and I am excited to see what we can accomplish,” said Kenneth Woodley, the Lady Knights coach.
