Faith Academy honors veterans

Faith Academy held its annual Veterans Day Program on Monday, Nov. 13. Mr. Nehrkorn and Mr. Farrell performed a flag ceremony followed by our Pre K classes leading the pledge. Reagan Shepherd (sixth grader) led the Star Spangled Banner. Fourth-graders followed with intriguing renditions of “Everybody Everywhere” and “Free to Fly”, while the entire elementary led “50 Nifty.” Each year the students who participated in the Voice of Democracy speech contest and the Patriot’s Pen essay contest read their speeches during the program.

They were proud to have first-place senior Hannah Taake and second-place freshman Tanner David read their Voice of Democracy speeches along with third place, seventh-grader Chesney Johnston, honorable mention seventh-grader Rachel Kuespert, and eighth-grader Brie Washington read their Patriot’s Pen essays. Parent Allen McClure, who is also a retired Marine, gave a heartwarming presentation on his time and experience while in the service for 20 years.
