The Gamma Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International held their November meeting in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg with 42 members in attendance.
The pledges were led by Eunice Sitton. The collect was led by Mary Anne Wiesner and the Mission statement was led by Lillian Knapheide.Prayer was said by Mary Alice Cure and the meditation was given by Janyce Beyer.
President Lou Pruett presided over the business meeting. Minutes from October meeting were approved as printed by recording secretary Kathy Noska.
Corresponding secretary Janet Allphin read four pieces of correspondence. Treasurer Linda Pinkerton gave the treasurer’s report.
Lou Pruett began the program by introducing Tiffany Young from Focusing Families from the Outreach office in Brenham. She expressed her appreciation for the society’s support and talked about the programs responsibilities and goals; such as support and empowering victims of abuse. Tiffany shared signs to watch for, in order to identify abused victims and how to approach them to offer help. Focusing families is nationwide and fights against domestic violence.
Committee reports included Lou Pruett giving the Legislative report and stressing the importance to stay informed and vote. Sue Wieprecht announced that she has applications for scholarships that will be awarded. Anna Breddin shared that the Orientation meeting was a success. The new member initiation will be scheduled for April meeting. Following adjournment, the members sang the Delta Gamma song.
The door prizes were donated by Joyce Gallway, won by Heather Smith. Perfect attendance prize was donated by Carol Ogg and won by Carole Fry. Janet Allphin highlighted members to get to know: Lynette Brown, Lillian Knapheide and Melynda Jones.
Our next regular chapter meeting will be Dec. 2, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Paul’s Fellowship Hall. Waller members were thanked for serving as hostesses.
