Charles Hinze, Jr. was born on Nov. 1, 1937, in Sealy, Texas, to Willie Ruth and Charles Hinze, Sr. Charles went to school in Sealy and graduated from Sealy High School in 1956. He attended Blinn Junior College and was voted Mr. Buccaneer in 1958. Charles graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Music Education.

On June 24, 1972, Charles married Frances Hajdik at Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy. He had many careers including being a band director, salesman and business owner; however, most of his years were spent working for the City of Sealy, Bellaire, and Wallis.

Charles was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree where he served as Navigator for two years, American Legion, Economic Development Committee, and on the Board of Sealy Cemetery. He belonged to Immaculate Conception Church and served as Communion Minister. Charles was always first to volunteer his time to his community, church family, and friends. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s baseball games, swim meets, and band concerts. His family was his priority. Many knew Charles by his whistle and smile. Some even got to hear his Donald Duck impression. Charles died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Feb. 2, 2017 at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Charles was a loving husband, father, and PePaw. Survivors include his wife Frances of 44 years, daughter Lisa Jackson and her husband James, and grandchildren Taylor and Brett Dolejsi. He was an only child but was blessed with many brothers- and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ruth.

Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Eric Pitre officiating. Interment followed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
