Two Sealy fall favorite events have fallen to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Seal News has canceled Bras for a Cause and Boo Bash.
“In the interest of public safety amid the COVID-19 crisis and the need for social distancing and limited gatherings, The Sealy News will not host Boo Bash this year,” said Publisher Susan Rovegno. “We look forward to relaunching the event in 2021. The Sealy News is proud to be an active part of the Sealy community.”
Although the community Halloween event has been canceled this year, a replacement event may be in the works.
“Main Street Advisory Board will be asking City Council for approval of our Halloween on Main event,” Main Street Director Kimbra Hill said.
As for Bras for a Cause, Sealy News Editor Joe Southern said the event wasn’t practical during the pandemic. The fundraiser where members of the community decorate braziers that are modeled by leading men in the community and then auctioned off has been held the last five years at Saddleback Saloon.
“With the governor extending the health emergency declaration and the need for face coverings and social distancing, we didn’t feel it was safe to hold the event this year,” Southern said. “We will re-evaluate it for next year.”
