Bollinger graduates from boot camp

Pvt. Kurt E. Bollinger, 19, of Sealy, graduated from the U.S. Marine Corps Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego on July 14. 

Pvt. Bollinger successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD San Diego.  

Bollinger, along with 50 other recruits in his training platoon, 2169, were awarded Honor Platoon out of a total of five other platoons. Honor Platoon scored the highest points in all competitions throughout boot camp training. While in recruit training, Private Bollinger achieved and was awarded National Defense Medal, Expert Marksmanship Badge and was a Fireteam Leader.

Following Private Bollinger’s 10-day leave, he will report to Camp Pendleton for one month at Military Combat Training and then continue to Military Occupational Specialty School. Following this training he will be assigned to his permanent duty station. 

Bollinger was welcomed home by family and friends Saturday to celebrate his success and achievements.
