During a special meeting recently, the Blinn College District Board of Trustees authorized the administration to award and execute a contract with Collier Construction for the renovation of the food service facilities located in the Brenham Campus Student Center.
The $1.262 million contract will fund the renovation of the existing dining hall, snack bar, kitchen, storage areas, and public restrooms to accommodate the projected increase in student enrollment with the construction of Blinn’s new student housing facility. The new facility, scheduled for completion in time for the Fall 2018 semester, will house 464 students.
The food service facilities renovation will increase seating capacity, provide a more efficient equipment layout, and allow for additional hours of operation. Trustees also authorized College administrators Tuesday to award and execute a $225,183 contract to furnish and install additional food service equipment in the Brenham Campus Student Center.
In other business, the board authorized the administration to award and execute a $227,795 contract for the renovation of various exterior walls of the Blinn-Brenham Student Center.
Trustees also participated in a board work session regarding the budget for Fiscal Year 2018-19.
