Bernice Augusta (Henske) Hintz

Bernice Augusta (Henske) Hintz of Brenham, formerly of Sealy, Texas, passed away at Kruse Village in Brenham on Nov. 25, 2016.

She was born to Will and Minnie (Richter) Henske in Kenney, Texas on March 13, 1919. Bernice was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellville, Texas. She attended schools in Kenney and Bellville, Texas.

On Oct. 5, 1940, she married Joe William Hintz at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Philllipsburg. They lived and raised their family in Sealy, Texas. Bernice was a homemaker and loved the outdoors. Tending to her flowerbeds, sewing, and cross stitching were her hobbies. She was an active member of the Sealy Garden Club, the Lutheran Ladies Aide, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Stephen F. Austin Ladies Golf Auxiliary. Bernice and Joe loved dancing and were members of several dance clubs. She was an active "couch contestant" in TV game shows and often knew the answers before the live contestants.

Bernice is preceded in death by her husband Joe Hintz, her parents Will and Minnie Henske, brother Ervin Henske, and sisters Helen Fuchs and Ruby Emshoff.

She is survived by her brother Will Henske (Flora Ann) of Spring, her son Larry Hintz (Debbie) of Brenham and daughter Linda Struckmeyer (Billy) of Alvin, granddaughters Gina Strack (Stuart) of Pearland, Tracey Curlee (Richard) of Brenham, Julie Abney (Charles) of Alvin, Kellie Fontenot (Coy) of Brenham, and Laura Kwiatkowski (Lenny) of Brenham. She is survived by great-grandchildren: Aaron, Joshua, Coby and Kailey Strack; Kristy and Katie Collins, Richard, Aaron, and Kyle Curlee; Paige, Payton and Connor Abney; Hayden and Maysen Fontenot; and Alex, Joe and Hanna Kwiatkowski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
