#backtoschool: Kids ready to hit the books

Posted

Sealy ISD students head back to the classroom in just one week, and many local households are now fully stocked with lunch boxes, graphing calculators, binders and No. 2 pencils.

Superintendent Sheryl Moore said during a recent Sealy Chamber of Commerce breakfast gathering that administrators and teachers want to “foster what a child is great at.”

“When we have the chance to teach a child an authentic lesson, we are going to,” Moore said.

The Sealy school board meets at 6 p.m. Aug. 23, just hours before the youth will board their buses and head back to the grind. The first Tiger football game is set for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at Wharton.

“Our coaches are teachers first,” said Athletic Director Shane Mobley. “I have coaches on staff that can relate to every kid.”
