The Austin County Fair is now accepting entries for the Little Miss & Mister Contest, the Junior Miss & Mister Contest and the Junior Fair Queen Contest. Below are the rules and regulations. Please come by the fair office or visit our website at www.austincountyfair.com for an entry form.
Categories: Little Miss/Mister (4-6 years at the beginning of the school year)
Jr. Miss/Mister (7-9 years at the beginning of the school year)
Jr. Fair Queen (10-14 years at the beginning of the school year)
Pageants will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Austin County Fair Convention & Expo Center at the following times: Little Miss & Mister at 4 p.m., Junior Miss & Mister at 6 p.m. and Junior Fair Queen at 8 p.m. Please check in dressed and ready to go 30 minutes prior to scheduled appearance. A professional photographer will be available.
The entry fee is $30 per participant. A $5 discount will be applied if a sibling also enters one of the pageants. An optional photogenic contest will be held for category. The photogenic contest can be entered for an additional fee of $5.00 per photo entry (no larger than a 5x7). No professional photographs. The Photogenic Contest is optional and has no bearing on the overall winners.
Entry form, fees and pictures (for newspaper and photogenic) must be turned in to the fair office by Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 at 5 p.m. (No exceptions)
Participants must be residents of/or attend school in Austin County. Previous winners will not be eligible to compete in same age group. Participants will wear their choice of western attire. Participants will be judged 90 percent on Personality/Interview on stage and 10 percent on attire. All judged will be from out of the county. The judges will be looking for the neat, natural, attractive, typical child – not a miniature adult. A winner and up to two alternates will be named in each category. Prizes will be announced during the awards ceremony.
Winners must be available to ride in the Austin County Fair Parade on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017 and be introduced during the Fair Queen Contest that evening. Winners’ parents or guardians will also need to meet with Shannon or Kevin Hanath at the end of each contest to discuss parade details.
