Austin County Fair Association changes scholarship application

In light of the closings of the schools due to the COVID-19 virus, the Austin County Fair Scholarship Committee recognizes many applicants may have difficulty obtaining a sealed, certified transcript as the application requires.

Therefore, for this year’s application, the committee will accept applications without a transcript. Once all applications have been turned into the fair office, the office will be in touch with the schools to get the applicants official GPA and class rank.

All other rules remain in place, including the deadline for applications to be turned into the fair office by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3.

The Austin County Fair Association Scholarship application is now available online at Graduating high school seniors who have participated in the fair are encouraged to complete the application. A couple of changes to this year’s application are:

  1. A personal recommendation letter is no longer required;
  2. An essay answering an essay prompt is required;
  3. The completed application is due to the fair office by 5:00 p.m. on the first Friday in April;
  4. All applications are to be turned in to the fair office directly; there will be no pick-ups from the high schools.
