COLUMBUS – This year’s Colorado County Fair, set for September 6- 8, will feature a variety of new activities, an improved carnival and Grammy-award winning entertainers.
Colorado County Fair Association Board Members are extending an invitation to everyone in surrounding counties to visit this year’s fair.
“This year’s fair marks our 40th anniversary, and we want to remind everyone in the area area to come out and join in the fun,” said Melissa Kilpatrick, president of the Colorado County Fair Association Board of Directors. “This year’s fair promises to be our best yet, with many new attractions and the return of numerous old favorites.”
New activities at this year’s fair include helicopter rides, robo cars, the ‘Farmer for a Day’ activity, and more.
Old favorites like the King Arthur Flour Baking Contest, photography contest, and pet show will be returning for encore runs, Kilpatrick said. A full line-up of events is also slated for the Colorado County Fair Rodeo.
Kilpatrick also noted that this year’s carnival has been improved, with more rides geared toward tweens, teens, and young adults.
Entertainers performing this year include Grammy-winning country and Tejano music artist Rick Trevino and multi-platinum country recording artist Neal McCoy.
Season passes, available from contestants in this year’s Fair King and Queen Pageant, are $25. Daily tickets are $10, and available at the gate. Senior citizens are $5 for a day pass; children six and under are $5.
“Bring your favorite pet and compete in the pet show, bake your best cake recipe and participate in the baking contest, or come see activities like the pedal pull, classic car show, or one of the wonderful concerts planned,” Kilpatrick said. “This year’s fair promises to be our best yet, and we hope everyone in the tri-county area including Austin and Fayette counties, will come and be a part of history.”
The Colorado County Fair & Rodeo are conducted at the Colorado County Fair Association Fair Grounds & Rodeo Arena, 1146 Crossroads Blvd., in Columbus.
