Anne Spacek Cox

Anne Spacek Cox of Frydek passed away in Austin on July 10, 2017. She was born Feb. 20, 1924, to Ignac and Annie Saha Spacek from Frydek. Ignac was born in Vienna, Austria, before the borders changed. Paternal grandparents were Franz and Anna Pastryk Spacek; maternal grandparents were Joseph and Josefa Buchala Saha, all of Frydek.

Cox was preceded in death by husband Jimmy Cox of Smithville and brother Louis Spacek of Sugar Land (wife Martina and eight children), brother-in-law Edmund Andel (wife Mickey and sister to Anne and six children), all of Austin; sister Inez Boggus and four children of Wharton.

Thank you, Mickey Andel for extraordinary care of your sister Anne!

Anne did crewel embroidery, cooked, gardened, managed and waitressed her whole life in restaurants and enjoyed the Frydek Grotto Festival. She was retired from an Austin restaurant as manager. She is survived by daughter C.C. Cox and grandson James.

She was a blessing on the planet who made a difference to everyone, a force to be reckoned with. Love one another, forgive, she believed in even when you are wronged. “They’ll know we are Christians by our love.”

“Jakse mas, dobry den faithful servant, your mission on earth is complete.”

“I lift my eyes to the mountains where my help will come.”

She followed the cross; Jesus illuminated her life. Anne would wish in memory to do a kind deed for anyone, clean out your house and give to charity.

She was lifelong friends with Louise Lezak of Frydek.

July 10, 2017. Psalm 108:2-4: “Awake, harp and lye! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations. I will sing of you among the peoples, for great is your love, higher than the heavens your faithfulness reaches to the skies.”

Mother Teresa: “Let us meet each other with a smile; it’s the beginning of love. We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. Place begins with a smile. We shall never know all the good it can do. Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies. Happiness is living in your purpose every day.”
