Aileen DeFratus, age 96, passed away March 9, 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born March 4, 1920 to George and Nona Kimbrough in Hickory, Oklahoma where she was raised. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1940. She married Frank DeFratus, her husband of 55 years on September 10, 1947. Aileen was a school teacher for many years. She will always be remembered for her love of family and selfless nature. Having 3 boys and no girls in the house, Aileen ran a 24 hr. café, and took every opportunity to hunt and fish with them. In the 50s while working for HB Zachary, Aileen assisted in paving the streets of Sealy and sidewalk and curb construction. She loved animals, including the horse she rode to school on as a young girl and the cats she took care of all her life. Her sense of beauty was expressed in the needlepoint that she loved making and displaying in her home.
