Austin County 4-H’ers spent the day June 18 touring Minute Maid Park and Ooh La La Dessert Boutique.
The group used the trip to support their project efforts in the Clothing and Textile and Food and Nutrition. They received a behind-the-scenes look to give them a better idea of how each establishment functions on a day to day basis. At Minute Maid, they learned that more than baseball happens at the world champion stadium.
Shamaine St. Julien, assistant buyer for the Houston Astros, explained the role of marketing Astros merchandise on a variety of levels.
She also explained how product is received and showcased in the stores located in the venue.
At Ooh La La, the 4-H’ers were amazed at the sheer number of delicious treats that were produced on a day to day basis at the phenomenal bakery. They were given the history of the company as well as a tour of the Town and Country shop.
