The Sealy Tiger baseball team secured a 30-0 win over Royal last Thursday at home thanks in large part to the senior members of the team. Luke Kovar started the game on the mound and struck out five in three innings before Bass Blundell pitched the final two innings of relief.

Nine Sealy High School student-athletes were recently honored by the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas Army National Guard with academic all-state distinction. Five tennis athletes and four Tiger soccer players cracked lists that were split up into four levels: Elite, first team, second team and honorable mention.

Growing up, the only way Clayton Fritsch’s dream of being a paid professional athlete could become real had to wait until after his collegiate career. However, recent legislation has opened the door for college student-athletes to benefit monetarily from their name, image and likeness through marketing opportunities.

The district-champion Sealy Lady Tiger soccer squad earned a host of all-district honors following its 5-1 loss to Burnet in the Area Championship last Tuesday.

Sealy’s Eric Wilson punched his ticket to next week’s Region III Championship in Bryan after a second-place finish in the boys’ singles bracket at the District 24-4A Championship last week. Colby Eschenburg and Hayden Havel also medaled with a third-place finish in the boys’ doubles bracket at the district match.

The Sealy Tiger soccer team found the end of the road in the Area Championship after a 5-1 loss to Waco La Vega last Tuesday. With the end of the season also came the release of all-district awards and the runner-up Tigers earned multiple selections.

With a 5-0 win over Smithville in last Friday’s Bi-District Championship at Columbus Memorial Stadium, the Sealy Lady Tigers collected their first playoff win since 2016 and shattered another one of the team’s preseason goals.

The Sealy Tiger soccer team staked claim to its home turf and earned its third straight playoff win on Mark A. Chapman Field at T.J. Mills Stadium last Friday over Caldwell 5-0 in the Bi-District Championship.

Sealy High School’s lone representative at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association’s Division 2 State Championship, Jeremiah Metzgar Jr., recorded personal-record lifts and finished seventh in the 148-pound weight class.

The Sealy Lady Tiger softball team notched its first win, 16-0 in three innings, within District 24-4A last Friday on the road in Brookshire over the Royal Lady Falcons. The visitors nearly batted around twice in the first inning and finished with 12 runs on the board before freshman Haylie Eder stepped into the pitcher’s circle for a 1-2-3 inning.
