This weekend history will come to life at the San Felipe de Austin Historic Site, as the first Historic Trade Days event will take place in their newest area, Villa de Austin. The two-day living history weekend will feature historic reenactors, who will bring to life the tradesmen and tradeswomen of Stephen F.

The second annual Mudbugs on Main "all-you-can-eat" crawfish event was held this past Saturday, May 14, hosted by Patches and the Shops of Downtown Sealy.

Roads were closed in the Sealy Main Street district for the event, and the crawfish was cooked by Brenton Slusser, owner of The SlussShack Daiquiris To Go. D.J. Dilly Billy spun tunes for the crowd, and the Bubba Westly Band provided live music for crawfish-munchers.

Do you how to spell “acciacatura?” Or how about how to pronounce “sobriquet?” Well, the upper elementary students at Faith Academy do! For most of the school year, the third through fifth grade students studied and prepared to participate in the academy’s in-house spelling bee. These students spent hours memorizing how to pronounce, define, and spell over 400 words.

On May 9 construction began on State Highway 36 at the IH-10 intersection. Northbound and southbound traffic was merged to single lanes in each direction of travel on the existing southbound half of SH 36. Jason Road is closed at SH 36, by Dairy Queen. This traffic pattern will be in effect until Phase 1 construction is complete, estimated to finish around May 16 or 17. RAE DRADY

Faith Academy of Bellville hosted a National Day of Prayer gathering on May 5. The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation.
