Austin County...Walk Across Texas has started — let the movement begin. Angel Martinez participates in the Walk Across Texas event held last year in Austin County. Walk Across Texas officially started Jan. 28. This eight-week program is an excellent way to get fit and mobile. Students, teachers, and their families will be challenged to move and become more active each week. Over the next eight weeks, healthy habits will be formed which could potentially increase quality of life and a healthier lifestyle. This program allows fun and fitness to unite.
The Sealy Garden Club named Tony’s Family Restaurant as its Business Yard of the Month. The landscaping was donated by Dr. Paul Beckwith with the Sealy Eye Center.
On Feb. 13, Austin County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Drake was presented a Letter of Commendation for outstanding performance Jan. 30, responding to cattle being out and at times in the roadway. Drake demonstrated concern for public safety and damage to personal property, which exemplifies commitment to the well-being of the citizens of Austin County.
The Brazos FFA Dairy Cattle teams competed at the San Antonio Livestock Show last week. With over 90 teams and 300 individuals, the team did very well. Brazos finished in 7th place with the team ofBrayden Krahn, Gauge McCain, Gunner Grigar, and Colton Richardson. Brazos also had a team finish in 13th place team in their first contest ever. The team consisted of Joe Wilson, Robert Hartfield, Madison Pailes and Chase Kuhn.
