Miss Brittany Guardia’s 4th Grade social studies classes recently participated in “field trip in a box” activities for their Ag in the Classroom unit at Faith Academy of Bellville. This unit included “cotton’s journey,” from the field to the store, and highlighted not only the growth and harvesting processes but also the various uses for cotton fiber, cotton seeds and cottonseed oil.

State Representative Ben Leman was the featured speaker at the Sealy Chamber of Commerce’s recent governmental luncheon at the Legion Hall last Wednesday. Leman spoke about some of the legislation passed this session, as well as answered questions from local officials on Winter Storm Uri.

Vote Centers to debut in May

In Austin County, Vote Centers will be used for the May 7 General Election and all future elections, the county’s Election Official Kim Rinn said Monday. In Vote Centers, also known as the Countywide Polling Place Program, enables any registered voter within the county to vote at any Vote Center polling place on Election Day,” a March 28 release said.

The 2022 season of Greater Sealy Little League officially got underway last Saturday, March 26, following Opening Day festivities that included a parade and an on-field ceremony. After all of the teams paraded down Park Street and converged on Mark A.

SEF gives back

Members of the Sealy Education Foundation spent its Thursday morning handing out $50,000 worth of grants to teachers and students across Sealy ISD. Out of the 45 grants that were handed out, SEF board member Ryan Reichardt said estimates showed it would impact around 1,700 students, more than 50% of the district’s enrollment.
