Suspect arrested in Bellville murder case

The Austin County Sheriff's Office released more information on the homicide reported Tuesday in Bellville. Kathy Maresh was arrested for murder and is being held in the Austin County Jail on a $500,000 bond, ACSO announced March 25.

Below is the press release from Austin County Sheriff's Office.

"March 22, 2022, at approximately 1530 hours, Austin County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the area of Sycamore Crossing and Highway 159 W regarding a welfare concern. Deputies arrived and located a female who was wandering around the area on foot.

Sealy High School’s Kenna Schram was crowned the Grand Champion for her Pen of Broilers (cockerels) at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo over the weekend. Her project sold for $200,000 to Roger Camp, Becky and Kelly Joy, Julie and Alan Kent and Gregory Miller at the 2022 Junior Market Poultry Show.

Trio charged in attempted post office burglary

March 13, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Austin County Deputies were dispatched to the Industry Post Office in reference to several suspects attempting to break into the drop box. A witness was able to give a description of the suspects and their vehicle as it fled the scene. 

With the help of Brenham Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was located in Brenham and three suspects were taken into custody.
