Engraved bricks for sale

The City of Sealy Youth Advisory Commission is trying to raise funds to make the proposed skate park a reality.

Members are selling engraved bricks to be placed at the Abe and Irene Levine Family Park between the pavilion and the gazebo.

“Jennifer and Fawn mentioned it at a meeting, and we thought it was a great idea,” YAC president Jessica Fogle said. “People would love to have their names around the park, and businesses would like to advertise themselves.”

Regular bricks are 4x8 inches and cost $50. Purchasers have three 18-character lines to engrave names and messages. Large bricks are 8x8 inches and cost $100. They have six 18-character lines for names and messages.

Interested persons can purchase a brick by visiting the fundraiser’s Web site at www.bricksrus.com/order/SealyYAC and following the online instructions.

So far, YAC has sold 22 bricks, raising $1,350 in funds.

Even though the brick fundraiser is an ongoing effort, the city will start laying down the current orders and blank bricks soon.

“We’re still measuring the area, but it’s going to be a pretty large area,” YAC sponsor Krisha Langton said. “We are hopefully going to start that process after our next fiscal year, like October or November.”
