Ricky Seals Golf Tournament

The Sealy Tiger Booster Club will host the Ricky Seals Memorial Golf Tournament July 11 at the Stephen F. Austin Golf Course. Participants can sign up to play at 8 a.m. or 2 p.m. Sponsors for the event are also needed, with advertisements to be placed on signs displayed on the golf course. Arts and crafts show

American Legion Post 200 of Wallis is sponsoring its fifth annual arts and crafts show July 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and July 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wallis American Legion Hall, 330 Legion Road in Wallis. Chopped barbecue sandwiches, hamburgers, desserts and drinks will be served at the event. There is an admission fee of $1 and door prizes will be given hourly. Swine tag-in

It’s time once again to tag-in swine for the Austin County Fair. The tag in is set for July 12 from 6-8 a.m. at the Austin County Fairgrounds in Bellville. The tags will cost $5 per animal. Family tagging will be allowed. For more information, contact Kathy Ignasiak at (979) 865-2261.

The Polka Lovers Klub of America will hold a free dance July 13 from 2-6 p.m. at the Sealy American Legion Hall, 1630 Meyer, with music by the Texas Sound Czech Band.

Vacation Bible School

1st Step meeting

Hospice Brazos Valley offers 1st Step meeting on the third Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the next meeting set for July 15. 1st Step helps family members who have experienced the death of a loved one learn healthy grieving methods and encourages comfort and hope. Christian Women’s Connection

The Katy Christian Women’s Connection is hosting the “putting a stamp on happiness” luncheon July 17 from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Golf Club at Cinco Ranch, 23030 Cinco Ranch Boulevard in Katy. Lizette Lobpries of Stamping Up will demonstrate how to create greeting cards using stamps. Nancy Briggs, a cancer survivor, will present on the search for happiness. Fireman’s Frolic

The Sealy Volunteer Fire Department is hosting the 74th annual Fireman’s Frolic July 19 at the Sealy Knights of Columbus Hall, 1390 Hwy 90 West. The event will feature craft booths, kid’s rides, a kid’s movie, a catfish dinner beginning at 5 p.m. and an auction to follow. Donations are needed for the auction. KJZT bake sale

The Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas, KJZT No. 22, will hold a “no bake” bake sale July 19-20 after the masses at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis. Money raised will go to the Midwest Disaster Relief fund. Checks should be made payable to the Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas. Volleyball camp

Faith Academy of Bellville will host the Lady Knight volleyball camp July 21-25. Alzheimer’s program

The Alzheimer’s Association of Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter will present a free educational program on aging, memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease on July 22 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the United Way Waller County Service Center, 531 FM 359 South in Brookshire. Frelsburg festival

Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Freslburg will hold its annual festival Aug. 3. The church is located 10 miles north of Columbus off FM 109 at 1031 Church Lane. The day will begin with holy mass at 8:15 a.m. A meal of fried fish, buttered potatoes, hush puppies, coleslaw, pinto beans, bread, pickles and tea will be served at 11 a.m. Meal tickets are $7.50 for a large plate and $4.50 for a small plate. To-go plates will be available for $7.50. The event will feature live music, a dance, an auction, arts and crafts and games.

The Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA) of Fort Bend is hosting the second annual Christmas Countdown craft show Nov. 15 at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Building C. When it comes to child development, getting help early is best. Region III Education Service Center Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECI) provides support and services to families with children ages birth to three with developmental delays and disabilities. Charity’s Animal Rescue and Shelter

Charity’s Animal Rescue and Shelter (CARS), a non-profit 501(c)3 animal shelter serving Austin County, is looking for one to two acres of land in the Wallis/Sealy area in order to build a permanent animal shelter. GED prep

Career and Recovery Resources Inc. if offering a Merit Software GED preparation program at the United Way Service Center in Brookshire. Classes are held Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and each class if for one hour every day for six weeks. Girl Scout camps

Whether it’s games and crafts or swimming and singing, there’s something for every girl ages 6-17 at day and twilight camp this summer. Day camp takes place Monday through Friday, with campers returning home each afternoon/evening. Twilight camp takes place Monday through Friday from 6-9 p.m. Girls do not have to be registered as a Girl Scout prior to registration. Non-members are welcome and encouraged to register. American Legion boxes

Sealy American Legion Auxiliary Post 442 is collecting items for boxes to be sent to U.S. soldiers stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations overseas. The auxiliary is also looking for soldiers to send boxes to. Boxes are sent every three to four months, with the next shipment slated to be sent in one to two months.

San Felipe de Austin Historical Park contains the J.J. Josey Store Museum, which is open each weekend, weather permitting, at the San Felipe Historical Site at 15945 FM 1458 and the Brazos River.
