Antique show set By MARY HOGAN, Staff WriterAntique lovers and gardeners alike can find local deals at the semi-annual Cat Spring Antiques and Garden Show Saturday and Sunday in the Cat Spring Agricultural Hall, along 1094 in Cat Spring. After almost 15 years of operation, the show now boasts around 1,000 visitors, organizer Marilyn Stellberg said. "Most of our people come from out of town," she said. "They're happy to be out in the country." Dealers come from all around Texas, bringing items such as glass, China, estate jewelry, vintage pottery, oriental carpets, quilts, linens, period tools, old toys, sterling silver products and folk art. At the plant and garden sale, shoppers can find plants and herbs, dried arrangements, vintage garden décor and architectural pieces. The Cat Spring Agricultural Society will prepare and sell meals both days as a fundraiser for the services and programs it provides. Stellberg encouraged people to come out to experience not only the show, which is put on by Rural Texas Antiques Shows, but also the history of the Cat Spring Agricultural Hall. "It's a beautiful venue," she said. "It's full of trees and it has a historical antique building that out-of-towners like to see in the country." Admission to the event is $5 for adults and children are admitted free. The show is open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (979) 865-5618.
